TOUR PLAN
Day 1: Fez - Ifrane - Azrou - Erfoud - Merzouga
Your journey begins with a 7:30 am pick-up from your hotel/Riad in Fes by your private driver/guide. We highly recommend an early start to ensure ample time to reach the Sahara desert of Merzouga before sunset, capturing the essence of the desert’s beauty.
Our first stop takes us through the charming town of Ifrane, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its picturesque Alpine architecture. Following a scenic drive through the cedar forest of the Middle Atlas, home to a colony of Barbary Macaques, we pause for lunch near Midelt.
Continuing our adventure, we traverse the awe-inspiring High-Atlas Mountains, punctuated by a brief stop for capturing panoramic views in the palm valley of Ziz. As the day draws to a close, we arrive at the majestic sand dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Indulge in the timeless tradition of camel riding, soaking in the breathtaking vista of the sunset against the shifting sands. As evening falls, retreat to our desert camp, where a delectable dinner awaits. Immerse yourself in the rhythmic melodies of a musical session, performed by our skilled staff using drums and castanets, before retiring to your comfortable ensuite tent for a restful night under the stars.
Day 2: Explore the Desert Area - Midelt
Rise early to the call of the desert as we invite you to embark on a journey to witness the breathtaking spectacle of the sunrise from atop a majestic sand dune. After greeting the dawn, savor a refreshing breakfast under the warmth of the morning sun, followed by a revitalizing shower to invigorate your senses.
Our adventure continues as we delve deeper into the desert landscape, discovering the age-old irrigation system known as “Khettaras” and immersing ourselves in the cultural tapestry of the Khamlia village. Home to descendants of Sub-Saharan slaves, the village resonates with the soulful rhythms of Gnawa music, a spiritual tradition cherished by its inhabitants.
Following a leisurely lunch, we set course northward, traversing through Erfoud, renowned for its fossil factories and bountiful date palms. Along the way, we pause at scenic spots, offering moments of respite and opportunities to capture the beauty of the desert landscape.
As the day draws to a close, we arrive at our hotel/Riad near Midelt, where comfort and tranquility await. Here, amidst the rugged beauty of the desert, we spend our second night, reminiscing about the day’s adventures under the vast expanse of the starlit sky.
Day 3: Midelt - Middle Atlas - Ifrane - Fes
After having breakfast at your hotel/Riad in Midelt, our journey unfolds as we trace a path through the verdant and UNESCO-protected Middle Atlas Mountains. As we wind through this picturesque terrain, lush landscapes and rugged peaks paint a mesmerizing backdrop against the horizon.
The road leads us onward, traversing through valleys adorned with cedar forests and dotted with quaint villages, each imbued with its own unique charm. As the hours pass by, the scenery evolves, offering glimpses of Morocco’s diverse natural beauty at every turn.
Finally, in the afternoon light, we arrive in the ancient city of Fes, where our 3-day desert odyssey draws to a close. May the memories we’ve shared along the way linger in your heart, a testament to the enchanting experiences woven into the fabric of our desert adventure.
