TOUR PLAN
Day 1: Marrakech - High Atlas - Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Zagora
Indulge in a delightful breakfast at your hotel/Riad in Marrakech before commencing your journey southward with your private driver/guide, set to pick you up around 07:30 am. Traverse the awe-inspiring High-Atlas Mountains, offering panoramic vistas and a glimpse into the region’s rich cultural tapestry. As we ascend the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m), be enchanted by the majestic views before venturing into the heart of the mountains to explore the historic Telouet Castle, a testament to the opulent lifestyle of the Glaoui family.
Continuing our expedition, we proceed to the enchanting Ait Benhaddou Village, renowned for its labyrinth of Kasbahs and its starring role in numerous Hollywood blockbusters. Following a sumptuous lunch, our journey unfolds further southward to Zagora, traversing the breathtaking Anti-Atlas Mountains with their intriguing geological formations, and meandering alongside the verdant Draa Valley. Prepare to be captivated by the unfolding beauty and history of Morocco’s southern landscape.
Day 2: Zagora - Nkob - Alnif - Rissani - Merzouga Desert
Today, our journey takes us further southeast, traversing the heart of Nkob, renowned for its myriad Kasbahs that epitomize the distinctive southern architecture of Morocco. Upon reaching Merzouga desert, you’ll receive a warm reception from the staff at the Riad/hotel nestled on the edge of the majestic sand dunes.
Indulge in a delightful dinner under the shimmering stars or within the cozy confines of the restaurant. Afterwards, take a leisurely stroll amidst the soft sand dunes, immersing yourself in the serene tranquility and marveling at the expansive night sky. Retreat to your comfortable en-suite room for a restful night’s sleep, surrounded by the enchanting ambiance of the desert.
Day 3: Explore the Desert Area & Camel Trek
After having your breakfast, immerse yourself in the wonders of the Erg Chebbi Sahara desert. Gain insights into the traditional irrigation system of “Khettaras,” witnessing how water is channeled to the oasis through interconnected wells and underground channels. Explore the Khamlia village, home to descendants of black Africans brought as slaves, celebrated for their enchanting Gnawa Music performances.
Embark on a comprehensive tour of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, marveling at their mesmerizing vistas. Engage with a local nomadic family, delving into their unique way of life. Return to your hotel/Riad to prepare for the pinnacle of your desert adventure.
Enjoy a camel ride experience, savoring the majestic views of the sunset before reaching the desert camp where you’ll spend your third night, enveloped by the enchanting ambiance of the Sahara.
Day 4: Merzouga Desert - Erfoud - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley
Starting your early morning adventure as you ascend the sand dunes to witness the awe-inspiring sunrise. Following breakfast and refreshment, embark on a journey to the Dades Valley through Erfoud, renowned for its fossil factories and vibrant dates market. Stroll through the impressive Todra Gorge, a towering canyon reaching heights of up to 200 meters, drawing mountain climbers from across the globe.
After a satisfying lunch, the expedition continues to the verdant Dades Valley, where the night will be spent, offering a tranquil and scenic retreat for your fourth evening.
Day 5: Dades Valley - Skoura - Ouarzazate - Marrakech
Our journey continues as we make our way to Marrakech through the enchanting Valley of Roses. Here, we may visit a local cooperative to discover the various rose-derived products such as rose water, soaps, and lotions. Passing through the palm oasis of Skoura, we arrive at Ouarzazate, known as the Hollywood of Africa for its famed Atlas Film Studios, which have provided the backdrop for numerous cinematic productions. Crossing the majestic Atlas Mountains, we finally reach Marrakech in the late afternoon, concluding our unforgettable adventure.
